Testimonials
Nate and his team’s attention-to-detail and pure artistic talent have made our home the finest on the mountain in Brian Head, Utah. Our lot sat vacant for five years as we thumbed through log cabin magazines looking for the perfect plan, package and kit. We finally came to our senses and met a true log home builder (Nate) who took our custom plan and created a masterpiece. The unique appearance of each individual hand-selected and hand-scribed log makes our home an art piece in the mountains and an incredible tribute to nature and the Great Creator. We look forward to years of entertaining and enjoying our mountain masterpiece. For anyone considering a log home or cabin, forget the milled logs or siding, let Nate build you something that will “awe and impress” upon every visit. You will not be disappointed. Thanks Nate (and Peter, Matt and all others that contributed to our home). Sincerely D&K B. Brian Head, UT – Sky High Sanctuary
In 2011 my husband and I had the honor of having the first log home built in North Dakota by Heim Log Homes. When we first discussed the possibilities with Nate Heim we had absolutely no idea what to do or where to begin. Nate has been very helpful & even put us in touch with people whom he has worked with and trusts for things like the roofing. One of the things we couldn't help but notice is that he seems to bring in Military Veterans for sub contracting whenever possible and we really appreciated that. Questions after questions and then even the same questions we'd ask all along the way and he was so patient and helpful. The work that Heim Log Homes does is certainly quality work. We get so many compliments on the house and the awesome size of the logs, then when people come inside they can't believe how beautiful the hand made stairs and railings all are. One of the things we were sure of is that when a company carries the family name you know they are going to do their very best to keep their name in good standing; and Heim Log Homes did not disappoint. We would and do recommend them to anyone considering a log home that is uniquely their own not a carbon copy of someone elses' home. H&B R., ND 2011 – House on Shadow Bay
Over 20 years ago, Dave and I (Mickey) decided that when it came time to build our cabin on our lake property, it would be a handcrafted log home. We attended our first Log Home show in 2005 in Minneapolis. That is where we spotted the Heim Log Home booth...really caught our attention! After talking with Ron and his son, Nate, they suggested when we were ready to build, to allow two years for the process. That was definitely one of the best suggestion that they give us. Because we had decided to be our own general contactor, it allowed us to do the research and line up our sub contractors a year in advance making sure that every thing was in place and ready to go when we needed it. This PROVED to be the KEY in having our building project go so smoothly. In the spring of 2009 we went to our second Log Home Show and reconnected with Nate to let him know we were ready to start building. We had two very large Norway pine trees that had to come down to allow for the building of our cabin. We wanted to incorporate them into our log home design. When we checked with Nate, his reply was exactly what we were hoping for. He said, "We sure can. It helps add a bit of history to the cabin." We arranged with him to come and cut them down and bring them to Kelliher to add them to the cabin. Just as Nate had promised, when we placed our down payment, we reserved the summer of 2011 to have our dream home built. We began clearing our land in the spring of 2010 and on Christmas Eve, Nate emailed us a photo of our logs in a big pile. We were on our way. On January 7, 2011, Nate and Devin came to the property and took down our two Norway pine. On a rainy Monday morning on June 27, 2011, the first of two semi-trucks rolled up to our property and the building began. Nate and his crew, Devin, Russell, Dan and Sam, began the process of assembling our 30' x 38' log home. By Thursday afternoon that same week, our home was assembled, including the roof SIP panels. When Dave approached Nate about also building the gable ends of our cabin along with installing the windows on the upper level, Nate agreed to do that for the price of time and materials. We thought we had asked to include that in our bid, but we had forgotten and Nate was very accommodating to our request and agreed to do the work. He also had no problem in letting Dave get involved with the construction. Working with Nate throughout our building process was a pleasure and we would recommend Heim Log Homes to anyone without hesitation and would use their services again. Heim Log Homes helped us make our dream log home a reality. Thank you for your craftsmanship, attention to detail and follow up to all of our questions. You were a pleasure to work with M&D N., MN 2011 – Red Pine Retreat
Pat and I want to say a few things about our experience of building a log cabin using you as the builder. After looking at many different styles of construction, we decided that your hand scribed homes look the best and like a real log cabin should look. Talking to other people that had you work for them, and your presentation of building what we were looking for seemed like the way to get our dream home constructed. A contract was signed with a hand shake and things began to happen as you indicated. As the project continued and questions arose, communication and a CAN DO attitude made things move along smoothly to complete the project on time. As some items that were not in the original design, a time frame and plan was developed and carried out expeditiously. I recommend anybody that has the desire to build a real log cabin to consider you because of our satisfying experience. If ever we want any more log work done We will wait until it fits your schedule. Thank you so much for such a wonderful home and you are welcome to come for supper anytime, just call ahead. Sincerely M&P S., MN 2005 – The Eagles Nest
We are more that satisfied with the house you built for us and have shown it to many .... some of whom have expressed interest in having a similar house built for themselves. I have recommended they get in touch with you as I've found you to be not only an excellent craftsman but someone with whom it has been a joy to work. D. H./T. S., IA 2008 – Decorah Home
My wife Traci and I have built 3 homes together now and although we have always been happy with the end result Heim Log Homes have really stood out. Building a home is like a roller coaster ride. There are many highs and lows filled with excitement and fear. We can honestly say that our experience with Nate at Heim log homes put us on a straight track to success. We enjoyed every aspect of the process from dreaming and design to bidding the project and ultimately building our dream cabin. Nate was with us every step of the way and he never promised us anything that he did not deliver on 100%. Our building crew became members of the family within days of the project starting. We would go out to the site more as a social call than to check up on the project. When the last member of the crew left we looked at our beautiful cabin and the respectfully cleaned up job site and felt a sense of sadness that the project was over and everyone was packing up. For an owner to feel that way about their builder reflects on the honesty and integrity of the builder. I would not have believed that a stress free build was possible but Nate did just that. I would recommend Heim log homes to anyone looking for the rewards of true craftsmen ship without reservation. M&T G., MN
